Here is the hint I mentioned in the last post. When asking questions about any (and ALL elements discussed in this book) use an open-ended format to your question style versus a closed ended. For example, a close-ended question would sound like this; “How long have you been breeding dogs? OR “Do you raise the puppies in your home?” The response you get will be a short “X number of years” and “Yes we do.”
But if you used an open ended format, it would sound like this; ” How long have you been breeding dogs in general and how long for this breed?”, or “Tell me more about your Breeding Processes/Dogs that are living with you/where you attended your last continuing education seminar/etc”. “Why are you breeding this specific breed?”
Those OPEN ENDED question styles requires them to answer using specifics that you requested in the question. It requires them to tell you details and cannot be answered by a simple yes/no/short answer. Know what I mean?
Alternatively, a close ended question practically tells them, ahead of time, exactly what you are looking for as an answer. And you told them the answer in the question. For example, someone might ask “Have you been breeding dogs for more than 5 years?” That tells them that your criteria is to find breeders who have been doing this work for over 5 years, so it would be very easy for anyone to say, “We sure have been doing this for 5 years.” Above I used an example of the close ended question, “Do you raise the puppies in your home?”
You are telling them the answer you are looking for, which defeats the purpose if you are dealing with a less than stellar breeder. Finally, a great question for further amplification of detail is to follow up their answer, with this; “Hmm, that’s Interesting. Tell me more about that.”
At the end of the book, we have listed all of the 25 quality elements for you to use as a checkoff as you narrow down your search and decide which breeder you want to engage. We hope this information allows you to find the best possible breeder for your next BFF canine family member.
I know some of you don’t want to, or can’t wait the 5 months for me to post 21 chapters once a week, to get the meat of the book. So as an alternative, if you would like to email me to get a copy of the whole book ahead of time, in a word document, emailed to you. It will cost $5.00 for that, which is less than I would make if I published and printed the book and mailed it to you. I think postage these days for a book is close to $5.00. I will give you my Venmo info in a reply email.
Just send me an email to coachgarry@gmail.com, with the Subject = Full Copy of 21 Pillars and I will get it right out to you.
Either way we hope you will benefit from this information in the book, whether you do it week by week or getting a Word document of the complete book.
