Introducing Garry and Linda Carlson

My name is Garry Carlson and I have been breeding dogs quite successfully with my wife, partner and mentor Linda. We have been doing this work, for some 25 years together, first as an adjunct to our Grooming Shop Business and 17 years ago it became our primary source of income. In other words, our primary business.

As a result of our work, over the past 20+ years, we have an incredible team of 2 and 4 legged salespeople walking the planet. Third party promotion (referrals) are an amazingly effective motivator for people to contact us directly. We also have many owners calling us 2 – 3 years after they got their first dog from us, wanting to get a second one ASAP. We love it when that happens. It tells us we are doing the right things.

The checklist at the end is intended to be a guide as you look for improving your chances to identify what different breeders offer in terms of qualitative elements to their process. Feel free to add anything that isn’t there that you think is of high value to you and your process for purchasing a quality bred puppy.

We understand, know, and accept that we alone cannot be everyone’s breeder for several reasons. However, if we can assist in more people connecting with quality, reputable breeders through an understanding of what specific, baseline, quality elements to look for, then we are happy to help in that process as well. In fact, we have been doing exactly that, verbally, for many years now.

A little assistance with getting the correct information from people you are speaking with – And let me just say, I strongly suggest that you MUST talk directly to the breeder when discussing any aspect of this most important buying process. A BROKER is someone who insulates and isolates the breeder from the owners, on purpose, in our experience.

There are a lot of people who say they are the breeder or insinuate that fact in a matter of words or reference, but they are NOT the breeder. Don’t be afraid to ask questions throughout this entire process.

Don’t be put off by anyone who doesn’t want to take the time to discuss any and all of the areas we talk about here, and any other questions which you deem important to your specific search. The answers to your questions, or lack thereof, will give you some incredible insights into whether you are dealing with someone who has the integrity to produce a well-rounded, healthy, and sound animal.

If they don’t have the time to listen and answer the questions that are important to you, do you think they are taking the time to implement quality processes and procedures like the ones we are talking about in this book?

Probably not, almost certainly.

So take some time and read about what we bring to the table and look for others to do much the same when looking for a well-bred, balanced and healthy puppy to bring into your home. We’re NOT the only good breeders around but you have to look carefully to find them. This book will help you do exactly that.
